Born in Shrevesport, La., on Jan. 21,1945, to Fernand and Eleanor (Bamforth) Favreau, Terry spent his life in Brunswick, Maine, close to his family and childhood home. Terry was a proud graduate of Brunswick High School, class of 1963, and the Maine Maritime Academy, class of 1969.
Terry sailed as an engineer aboard tankers in the Merchant Marine for many years before returning home to co-own and operate True Value Hardware in Brunswick, Augusta and Rockland. He then returned to the seas as an engineer on Great Lakes cement carriers. While aboard ship he enjoyed port visits in Central and South America, West, East and Gulf coasts, as well as China and Europe. He was proud of his many years at sea and was eager to share his stories and photos with anyone who came to visit him while home.
When home, Terry enjoyed completing projects around his home, spending Sundays with his family at their cottage in Harpswell, coaching and in later years watching his sons’ many hockey games, vacationing with friends and family, and enjoying his four grandchildren.
Always one to offer his assistance to others, Terry will be remembered by his family as a man with a gentle demeanor, a kind heart, a loving husband, and an awesome dad with a bottle of Pepsi in his back pocket and a pack of Reeses Peanut Butter Cups to share with anyone willing.
Mr. Favreau is predeceased by both of his parents and brother Barry.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Joyce Favreau, his three sons, Shawn Favreau and his wife Beth of Auburn, MSgt. Timothy Favreau and his wife Melissa of Vandenberg AFB, CA., Dana Favreau with his partner Shanna of Brunswick, four grandchildren, Amaya, Talia, Axel and Grace Favreau, as well as two brothers Gary and Scott and a sister Robin Kelley.
There will be no funeral, but the family will hold a celebration of life in the spring.
