He was born in Bath on Dec. 25, 1948, a son of Harry and Nola Mattie (Belanger) Warner.
He graduated from Morse High School in the Class of 1967 and was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. He served in the National Guard Reserves in Brunswick, retiring after 26 years. He was employed at Bath Iron Works as the Chief Steward of Local 6 and was employed by OSHA for 35 years, retiring in January 2014.
On June 26, 2004, he married Victoria Westlake. Their marriage was one that brought them much joy. She was his Flutterfly and they were inseparable. They enjoyed all of life together and chatting with one another.
He was a life member of the Bath Lodge of Elks, serving on several committees, a life member of the American Legion, VFW in Lewiston and the Eagles in Portland. His garage was another fond gathering place. He named it the Broken Antler Club, and true to the humorous guy he was, he made membership cards to pass out. A passion of his was seeing to it that all veterans got the full benefits they were entitled to. If he met someone that had never gotten these benefits, he would personally drive them to the VA. He had a great ability to wheel and deal, and enjoyed giving food to anyone who was in need.
He enjoyed lobstering, hunting, fishing, taking drives, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria Warner of Bath; two sons, Stephen Warner of Phippsburg and Christopher Warner of Bath; one stepdaughter, Kristin Rogers and her husband Norman of Woolwich; two sisters, Sharon Wagner and her husband Richard Wagner of Orono, and Nila Drake and her husband Cary of West Bath; and eight grandchildren, Logan Hudson, Emma Warner, Haleigh Willis, Paige Willis, Garrett Warner, Landon Rogers, Brayden Rogers and Ella Rogers.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, at Bath Lodge of Elks. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
