The Parkwood Inn at 17 Gurnet Road in Brunswick has been undergoing cosmetic and functional improvements throughout the last nine months. After the last 22 perennials and four trees were planted — by JD Groundscapes of Augusta — the hotel was renewed and ready for guests in its newly refurbished rooms. The hotel replaced the check-in counter, built a new lobby, replaced all carpets, got a new coat of paint and had the landscaping redone. Pets are allowed, there is a pool, meeting and banquet rooms, a fitness center, free continental breakfast and some rooms boast an in-room whirlpool. The on-site restaurant, the Parkwood Grille, is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 5 to 9 p.m., serving American cuisine.
