She was born on Oct. 1, 1926, in Medford, MA, a daughter of Thomas and Dorothy O’Leary McGregor. She attended Cambridge schools and was a graduate of South Boston High School. She attended Simmons College and married Cmdr. Christopher J. Gill Jr. in South Boston on Sept. 6, 1952. Cmdr. Gill died on March 29, 1985.
Throughout her husband’s service the couple lived all over the world, spending time in Japan, Panama, and Norfolk, Va., before moving to the Brunswick area in 1969.
Before her marriage, Mrs. Gill had been an assistant buyer at Gilchrist’s Department Store, Boston. Locally, she had been a volunteer at People Plus, Brunswick, and especially enjoyed a round of golf at what is now Mere Creek Golf Club in Brunswick.
She was predeceased by her husband; a brother, Arthur J. McGregor; a sister, Helen Hankus.
She is survived by two sons, Christopher J. Gill Jr. (Laurie) of South Portland, and Scott P. Gill (Michele) of Brunswick; two brothers, Thomas (Bonnie) McGregor of Billerica, MA, and William (Carol) McGregor of Sundbury, OH; three sisters, Agnes Ardagna of Plymouth, MA, Dorothy Dauer of Columbus, OH, and Shirley Conroy of Parkville, MO; five grandchildren, Sean Gill (Teri) of Brunswick, Brian Gill (Hope) of Freeport, Nick Austin (Nicole) of Topsham, Devin Gill of Nordin, CA, Katherine Gill of Key West, FL, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family can visit 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2015, at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, McKeen Street, Brunswick.
