BATH
The Chocolate Church Art Center has announced the Celebrity Bob Dylan Poetry Slam on March 14 from 5-7 p.m. Local celebrities will present their favorite Bob Dylan song through creative interpretation.
The Annex of the Chocolate Church, located at 804 Washington St. in Bath, will showcase the creativity of Sheriff Joel Merry of Sagadahoc County; Bob Keyes of the Portland Press Herald; Gary Lawless, who owns Gulf of Maine Bookstore in Brunswick; Jonas Werner, who owns Azure Café in Freeport and comedian Johnny Ater, among others.
There will be no singing or props or music. A Poetry Slam is the competitive art of performance poetry. Celebrity presenters will face a panel of judges and rely on audience applause to determine the best style, interpretation and performance.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door. Concessions will be available. The audience will experience the poetry of Bob Dylan and vote as part of this special event to help raise money for the Chocolate Church’s 40th Anniversary. Tickets are available by calling the box office (207) 442-8455 or visiting www.chocolatechurcharts.org.
