BRUNSWICK — Mid Coast Hospital and Midcoast Maine Community Action program are thanking community members, volunteers and hospital staff for their contribution of purple knitted and crocheted caps donated in support of the National Purple Crying Caps Campaign.

Nearly 800 hats were collected, to be distributed to newborns at Mid Coast Hospital in an effort to raise awareness about normal crying periods in infants, and as a reminder to parents of the dangers of reacting in frustration by shaking or abusing an infant.
