Rosemont Market plans holiday wine spectacular
Rosemont Market and Bakery will hold its third annual Holiday Wine Spectacular from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at its 580 Brighton Ave. store.
Michael Burke and George Schwartz of Vias will be showcasing Italian wines.

Whole Foods invites public for day of holiday activities
Whole Foods Market has several holiday-related events planned for Saturday.
Children ages 12 and under can decorate gingerbread cookies in the store’s cafe from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Holiday face-painting with nontoxic, washable face paint will be available.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
From 1 to 4 p.m., Josh Kaplan from the store’s meat team will discuss how to cook, carve and serve the perfect rib roast and gravy.
During the demonstration, there will be a special promotion: Buy or order a rib roast and receive the demi-glace gravy base.
Experts in the store’s cheese department will offer tips on “How to Make a Cheese Plate” from 3 to 4 p.m.
From 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., there will be a holiday wine tasting.

River Grill mixes artwork, sustenance for the season
Looking for a Christmas gift for someone who loves food?
The Damariscotta River Grill is hosting a holiday art show focusing on 15 Maine artists.
The show’s opening reception from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday will feature “edible art” for sampling and for purchase.
Chef Rick Hirsch will serve bouche de noel, a yule log sponge cake decorated with meringue mushrooms, and guests can order one for their own holiday gatherings.
Dean’s Sweets of Portland will be offering samples of its hand-dipped, dark chocolate truffles, and will have gift packages for sale.
Doral International, an Italian importer known for artisan chocolates and hard candies, will also be there.
Prices for the artwork on sale range from $75 to $500.
The art show will be on display through Jan. 18.
