Freeport church plans baked bean supper
FREEPORT — A public supper is planned Dec. 10 at 5 and 6 p. m. at First Parish Church, 40 Main St.
The menu will include three kinds of beans, chop suey, coleslaw, macaroni and cheese, hot dogs and deserts. The cost is $8 for adults and $ 4 for children. For more information, call 865-6022.
Labyrinth walk slated Tuesday afternoon
BRUNSWICK — First Parish Church, UCC, invites the public to walk the labyrinth on Tuesday from noon to 8 p. m. in Pilgrim House at 9 Cleaveland St.
The labyrinth is an 11 circuit Chartres-style pattern, painted on a 30-foot canvas. Unlike a maze, which is intended to confuse, a labyrinth has a singular path to the center and back out, freeing the walker from decision making and letting his or her mind rest.

Bath UCC planning craft fair, luncheon
BATH — The United Church of Christ Congregational will host a craft fair on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A luncheon is planned at 11 a.m.
More than 50 local merchants have contributed items for the raffle and silent auction. There’ll also be crafts, jewelry, plants, knits, goodies, books and more. Special face painting is planned for the children.
Proceeds benefit Good Samaritan Ministry, The Neighborhood Cafe and Bath Area Food Bank.

Lisbon Knights serve up stew for supper
LISBON — A public chicken stew supper will be held at the parish hall of Holy Trinity Church, 67 Frost Hill Ave., on Dec. 10.
Supper will be dished out from 4:45 to 6 p.m. and costs $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12. Children younger than 4 eat free and a family special is $ 18. A dessert and beverage is included.
The meal is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.

Cornerstone Baptist schedules craft fair
TOPSHAM — The fifth annual Cornerstone Craft Fair will be held Dec. 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 771 Lewiston Road.
Hand- crafted gifts and items for sale, including hand-turned bowls, Pampered Chef, Creative Memories, fairtrade woven baskets from Uganda, purses and bags, wreaths, baby clothes, fleece clothes, goodies and more will be available.

Strout to speak at Dec. CLIMB meeting
PORTLAND — Phil Strout, senior pastor of the multi-site Pathway Vineyard Church in Lewiston and Brunswick, will be the featured guest during the Christian Leaders in Maine Business meeting on Dec. 13.
CLIMB meets monthly at the Italian Heritage Center at 40 Westland Ave., from 7:15 to 9 a.m.
Strout’s topic is “Staying the Course.”
“ Phil Strout is a gifted leader and communicator in the 21st century church,” states a news release. “ He brings over 30 years of experience in the area of church planting and cross cultural mission and has been referred to as a ‘quintessential practitioner.’ Phil is not afraid to think outside the box and to challenge you to do the same.”
He is a leadership coach and author of “God’s Relentless Pursuit: Discovering God’s Heart for Humanity.” He has been the senior pastor of the Pathway Vineyard Church, since 2004. In addition, Strout has served on the board of Vineyard USA and as the regional overseer for the eastern region of Vineyard USA overseeing 65 churches from Maine to Virginia. He has recently been appointed as the national director of Vineyard USA, which is an association of more than 500 churches nationwide.
Church collecting gifts for Western Maine families
BATH — The Bath United Methodist Church, as part of its ongoing caring ministry and because of these difficult economic times, has been collecting new Christmas gifts for children and seniors in rural Western Maine who would not receive a Christmas gift this year.
“ The growing poverty among families and seniors right here in Maine requires that our church turn to the generous Bath area communities and ask, ‘ can you help?’” states a news release.
The Christmas gift collection project will be taken from the church at 340 Oak Grove Ave. to the parking lot at Bath City Hall on Front Street, on Dec. 10 from 9 a. m. to 2 p. m. “Bath area residents are encouraged to support this vital ministry by purchasing a gift for a child, teen, parent or senior and bringing it to the collection site at the Bath City Hall parking lot and/or stop by for a cup of coffee and a cookie and learn more about this important Maine ministry and get a list of suggested gift items,” the release continues.
The UMEM staff set up appointments for eligible area parents who receive coupons to make gift choices for their children at the UMEM center in Salem Township. Adults will receive a gift with their Christmas food Basket.
