After its longtime owners sought a buyer for nearly three years, Frosty’s Donuts could soon sweeten downtown Brunswick’s early morning scene again.
Realtor Shirley Wedell said Wednesday that owner Robert A. Frost Jr. hopes to close a sale on the Maine Street doughnut shop by the end of the month.
Wedell said she could not disclose the identity of the prospective buyers, but that they are looking to purchase the store and the Frosty’s trademark together to put the Brunswick mainstay back in the business it operated for 45 years.
In June, the store closed permanently following the death of Frost’s wife, June Frost.
Wedell said that there has been significant interest in the property since it went on the market three years ago, but that “for one reason or another, the other offers just weren’t right.”
Speaking on behalf of Robert Frost, Wedell said he is delighted with the offer that she said is now “past preliminary discussions.”
Wedell said further details of the sale would not be available until the sale closes.
