BRUNSWICK

Police on Thursday arrested a Brunswick man who allegedly stole a Jeep Cherokee from the Lion’s Pride parking lot on Pleasant Street, then drove it across town while intoxicated.

Jacob Davis, 20, of 20 Cumberland St., Apt. 1, remains in Cumberland County Jail today on charges of theft by unauthorized use of property, operating under the influence, operating without a license, theft by unauthorized taking, theft by receiving stolen property and criminal mischief, Deputy Chief Marc Hagan said today.

Police charged him with criminal mischief after he allegedly became uncooperative after his arrest, began slamming his head against the cage inside the police cruiser and then spit throughout the cruiser, according to Hagan.

Just after 5 p.m. Thursday, a caller reported to Brunswick police that their 2006 red Jeep Grand Cherokee had been stolen from the parking lot at The Lions Pride on Pleasant Street, and that the vehicle was headed toward Maine Street, Hagan said.

At approximately the same time, police took a complaint from a caller who said a red Jeep Cherokee was “all over the road” just getting onto Route 1, Hagan said.

Bath Police Officer Michelle Small discovered the vehicle on Baybridge Road and arrested Davis, who was charged with theft by receiving stolen property after officers allegedly found him in possession of credit cards issued to other people.
