LISBON

The Lisbon School Committee is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. today in the town office to elect leaders for 2012, then dive into a full agenda.

After electing a chairman and vice chairman, the School Committee is scheduled to consider the following committee appointments: Traci Austin and George Caron to the LEA Negotiations Committee; Austin and Pete Reed to the LESP Negotiations Committee; Austin and Reed to the LAA Negotiations Committee; Caron to the Drop Out Prevention Committee; Austin and Kathi Yergin to the Building Needs Committee; Caron as the Legislative Contact; Caron to Adult Education Advisory; Yergin to the Sick Leave Bank; Austin, Reed and Yergin to the Finance Committee; Caron and Reed to the Audit Committee; Marcey Crosskill to the Curriculum Steering Committee; Caron THEto theNOTESComprehensive Education Plan; Reed to the LRTC Committee; Austin to the Technology Committee; Yergin to the School Safety Committee; Crosskill to the Wellness Committee; Crosskill to the Looping Committee Grades 5-6; Yergin to the Looping Committee Grades 8- 9; and also Drummond, Woodsum & MacMahon as the school attorneys.

The school committee also is scheduled to:

— Consider action to appoint an alternate member to the Ethics Panel Committee for a three-year term.

— Consider funding the LEAD program for the remainder of 2011-12 school year with approximately $3,900.

— Consider approving the Lisbon School Department Capital Improvement Plan.

— Consider authorizing Superintendent Richard Green to accept Siemens’ proposal for re- piping of the domestic water heaters and storage tanks at Lisbon Community School not to exceed the amount of $16,300.

— Consider authorizing Green to purchase a utility tractor with attachments at a cost not to exceed of $32,900.

— Consider approving Green’s selection of an architect and engineer to perform a cost analysis study for a community performing arts center and gymnasium at Lisbon High School, at a cost not to exceed $4,000.

— Hear school financial reports and receive the audit report for the year ending June 30.

— Regarding personnel updates, Barbara Thompson will retire as Gifted-and-Talented program teacher at the Lisbon Community School, effective Dec. 31, 2011.

— Give first readings to policies regarding the school committee policy process, policy adoption procedure, school committee communications with staff, new school committee member orientation, school committee member development opportunities, school committee member Freedom of Access training, and certification of completion of Freedom of Access training.

— Give second readings of and consider adopting 13 polices regarding: the agenda, agenda format, quorum, rules of order, voting method, abstentions, minutes, public participation at school committee meetings, school committee relations with the media, broadcasting/taping of school committee meetings by the public, supervision and evaluation of professional staff, compulsory attendance; and private school students — access to public school co-curricular, interscholastic and extracurricular activities, private school student application for participation in co-curricular, private school student application for participation in extracurricular, verification of student eligibility for participation in co-curricular, and verification of student eligibility for participation in extracurricular.

The school committee is also scheduled to enter into executive session to discuss the superintendent’s evaluation.
