BATH — Clayton T. Fortier Jr. (Tom) of 19 Clifton Street in Bath passed away at his home on May 28, 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Berkery Fortier; his daughter, Lorraine Fortier Spratt of Brunswick, and her husband, Howard; Mr. Fortier’s brother, Robert, and his wife, Shirley of Hampden, MA; his granddaughter, Corie Beth Fortier of North Vassalboro; his great-grandson, Lucas; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Eric C. Fortier in 2005.
He was born in Bath June 27,1941, to Clayton and Juanita Fortier. He attended Bath schools and graduated from Morse High School in 1959 where he was a member of the Smith Toby Drum and Bugle Corps.
Upon graduation he went to work for the BIW in the tin shop and welding until he left to serve his country in the United States Army. While in the Army he served in the Viet Nam War as a radio operator. In 1966 he married Patricia Berkery of Bath. He worked as an electrician for Bath Iron Works from 1968 to 1997. He was the past president of the Sagadahoc Rod and Gun club.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, boating, riding his motorcycle and taking long drives throughout the state. He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed making wood crafts, tinkering in his garage, jamming on the drums and guitar, playing pool, flea marketing, collecting, and taking pristine care of his house and property.
At his request there will be no services. At a future date his family will free his ashes on Damariscotta Lake. His favorite place on earth.
