
AMERICAN SOPRANO Renee Fleming will headline a Jan. 8 Berlin Philharmonic concert that will be screened at the Lincoln Theater in Damariscotta.
“Captured live in HD, these sensational concerts, each one featuring a different world- class conductor and extraordinary guest soloists, will mark the debut of the theater’s new digital streaming capabilities and upgraded surround sound system,” a Lincoln Theater release states.
The Jan. 8 concert will be conducted by Ion Marin and feature American soprano Renee Fleming in a concert of several of her favorites.
On Jan. 15, Claudio Abbado takes the stand in a program dedicated to the works of Gustav Mahler and feature well- known Mahler singer Anne Sofie von Otter and renowned tenor Jonas Kaufmann.
The Jan. 22 concert will provide a change of pace in a tribute to Venezuela featuring Maestro Gustavo Dudamel in his debut performance with the Philharmonic.
The final program of the series on Jan. 29 is titled “Fellini, Jazz & Co” and will highlight the versatility of conductor Riccardo Chailly as the orchestra travels from Shostakovich’s “Suite No. 2 for Jazz Orchestra” to Respighi’s “Pines of Rome.”
Each performance starts at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $17 per person or $15 for Lincoln Theater members. The theater is located at 2 Theatre St. The box office is open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Call 563-3424.
