The Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick is ready for its next Concert for a Cause.

Singer-songwriter John Gorka is headlining the next offering, set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 2.

Gorka, a contemporary American folk musician from Minnesota, was called “the preeminent singer/ songwriter of the New Folk movement” by Rolling Stone, while the New York Times wrote, “Listening to John Gorka, one can get goosebumps all over. There are many reasons: fresh lyrics, a stunning emotional baritone, and his twisted humor.”

Many well-known artists have recorded and/or performed John Gorka songs, including Mary Chapin Carpenter, Nanci Griffith, Mary Black and Maura O’Connell. John has graced the stage of Austin City Limits, Mountain Stage, etown and has appeared on CNN.

Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick is located at 1 Middle St.

The UUCB Concert Series raises money for church programming and local charities.

Tickets are $22 in advance or $25 at the door; $10 for students/children. They are available at the church office by calling (207) 729-8515, at Gulf of Maine Books or gorka.brownpapertickets.com.
