TOPSHAM — The Mt. Ararat seventh-grade softball team finished the season with a victory over Auburn, 18-6, on Thursday.
Auburn scored a run in the top of the first inning, then it was all Eagles from there, both offensively and defensively.
Hannah Hawkes started the Eagles by leading off the game with a home run, as the home team had eight different players cross the plate.
The Eagles scored 10 more runs in the second inning, as Hawkes hit a double and Angel Huntsman hit a three-run homer. Hawkes came up for the second time in the inning with the bases loaded and Auburn issued an intentional walk rather than let her do more damage. Huntsman followed with a two-run single, and Alex Durant an RBI single of her own to put the Eagles up 14-1 after two innings.
Auburn scored a pair in the third and one in the fourth, to make the game 14- 4 heading into the home half of the frame. The Eagles scored four more runs with Hawkes and Huntsman each picking up their third knocks of the game, while Durant batted her fourth hit.
Reagan Robertson who had two hits and reached base four times, pitched the whole game for the Eagles, striking out five in the win.
Mt. Ararat was also solid defensively, as Durant, Piper Cohen, Emelia Baker and Huntsman made defensive plays.
Mt. Ararat finished the season with a four-game winning streak, ending at 6-4.
