PHIPPSBURG — Phippsburg’s Boat Parade and Blessing of the Fleet will take place 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23 rain or shine. The event is open to boats from all communities and is sponsored by the Phippsburg Recreation Commission.

Both commercial and recreational boats are invited to participate. They will line up just outside the southern entrance to the upper section of Sebasco Harbor by 4:30 p.m. by Can Buoy #1. At 5 p.m. vessels will transit through the harbor past the Acre Lot Wharf, Anna’s Waters Edge Restaurant and by Ridleys Landing Dock where they will be blessed by local pastors, and then end at Nun Buoy #4 at the northern end.

Boat decorating is encouraged and boats will monitor VHF- Channel 68. The onwater coordinator will be Proctor Wells aboard the F/V Kahuna. The shore-side coordinator will be Mike Young.

Spectators will assemble at Ridleys Landing Dock — Sebasco Harbor, 155 Ridleys Landing. Parking for spectators is available at Bert and Callie Wells’ field at 54 Ridleys Landing Road or at Sebasco Nazarene Church at 583 Sebasco Road in the event of foul weather. A shuttle will run to the dock every 15 minutes from 3 p.m.-4:45 p.m., then for an hour following the concluson of the Boat Parade.
