TOPSHAM — The Mt. Ararat Middle School eighth-grade softball team ended its season with a 20-15 win over Auburn Middle School.

The Eagles finished their season with a 6-3 record.

Mt. Ararat had a 13-hit attack, scoring in all seven innings. It was a close game throughout as Auburn had 12 hits and also scored runs in each inning.

Morgan Ruff and Jazzy Huntsman led the Eagles with three hits apiece. Ruff also scored four runs to go with her three singles. Huntsman had a pair of singles, while ripping a double and scoring three runs.

Emily Bontatibus chipped in with two singles and three runs. Sydney Stewart smacked a triple and scored twice, while Lillie Singleton hit a double and also scored two runs. Kaylee Bergeron singled and scored three times, Avery Giles singled once and scored twice, and Abby Ayer hit her first single of the season.

Huntsman pitched the first three innings, striking out four, walking four and allowing seven hits. Megan Reed pitched the last four innings, striking out six, walking three and allowing five hits.

The Eagle defense made solid plays to keep Mt. Ararat ahead and clinch the victory. After Auburn picked up two hits in a row in the bottom of the sixth, Singleton made a leaping catch on a line drive for the first out to stymie the attack. She was solid all game at first base. Bontatibus played well behind the plate, catching for both pitchers, and Stewart, Giles and Ruff all made fine plays for the winners.
