AUBURN — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine (BBBSMM) invites businesses, organizations and individuals to participate in the Androscoggin Golf Fore Kids’ Sake event at Martindale Country Club on June 18.

Foursomes of golfers from Lewiston, Auburn and surrounding communities will raise funds to support youth facing adversity in the Androscoggin community.

Former Patriots players Max Lane and Garin Veris will join the golfers helping change local children’s lives. Lane, who played in 100 regular season games and seven playoff games for the New England Patriots, and Veris, who during his rookie season, recorded 14 sacks — including four in the playoffs — and started in Super Bowl XX, will be participating in the fundraiser. It is still to be determined what foursome they will be a part of.

Martindale Country Club will host the Golf Fore Kids’ Sake Fundraiser which will be run as an 18-hole, four-person best ball scramble with a shotgun start. Prizes for the event include — gross and net top finishing teams; longest drive (men’s and women’s), closest to the pin and hole-in-one contests and more. The day’s events start with a golfers breakfast and opening remarks.

A grill luncheon will be provided followed by an award ceremony/reception and silent auction.

Those who are not golfers can certainly be involved by volunteering. Several of the local Big Brothers and Big Sisters will attend and share their personal stories and experiences in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

For further information or to register for the Golf Fore Kids’ Sake event, call Jennifer Cartmell, Androscoggin Manager, directly at 653-3857, or email, jennifer@bbbsmidmaine.org.

Volunteers are welcomed and encouraged for this event and for the BBBS mentoring program.
