PORTLAND

Ranger Suarez tossed a five-hit complete game and Austin Bossart hit a two-run home run and had two hits as the Reading Fightin Phils topped the Portland Sea Dogs, 7-1, in the first game of a doubleheader on Tuesday.

Suarez (3-3) allowed one run while striking out five and walking two to pick up the win.

Down 2-0 in the fifth, Portland cut into the lead when Chad De La Guerra hit an RBI single, bringing home Austin Rei.

The Fightin Phils extended their lead with five runs in the seventh inning, including a two-run home run by Bossart.

Mike Shawaryn ( 3- 6) went 6 1/ 3 innings, allowing six runs and seven hits in the Eastern League game. He also struck out four and walked three.

Game two

Zach Green hit a solo home run in the sixth inning, and Jiandido Tromp had three hits and scored two runs as the Reading Fightin Phils beat the Portland Sea Dogs, 6-5, in the second game.

Alexis Rivero ( 2- 0) earned the win with 2 1/3 innings of scoreless, one- hit relief while Adam Lau (0-3) took the loss in the Eastern League game. Tyler Gilbert pitched two scoreless innings for his second save of the season.

For the Sea Dogs, Danny Mars tripled and singled, scoring two runs.

Reading improved to 10- 4 against Portland this season.
