ASHLAND, Mass. — Hilda E. Brewer, 80, of Ashland, Mass., passed away Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, surrounded by her family. Born in Maine, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Sylvia Bowers and wife to Walter Brewer of Ashland. They were married 58 years.

A childhood resident of Bath, Maine, Hilda has been a resident of Ashland, Mass., for 54 years. She is a former operating room supervisor and registered nurse working for Framingham Union Hospital and later Milford Regional Hospital. She enjoyed reading, movies, New England sports, and trips to the casinos with her friends.

In addition to her husband Wally, she is survived by two children: Jane Brewer of Ashland, and James Brewer and his wife Colleen of Ashland; and four grandchildren: Kimberly and Craig Brewer, and Daniel and Sean Pyne.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday,

Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland. Calling hours were held Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
