FREEPORT — Cat Gould scored five goals as the Freeport High School girls soccer team rolled to a 6-2 Western Maine Conference win over Greely on Thursday.

Gould tallied a pair of breakaways six minutes apart in the first half. She completed her hat trick with 4:22 remaining in the first half off a Rachel Wall assist.

Katherine Clancy scored for the Rangers 15 minutes into the second half, only to have Gould counter two minutes later. Allison Greuel headed in a corner from Sarah Gray, and Gould scored from Tia Peterson before Paige Evans of Greely added a goal with three minutes to play.

Leah Ruseicki had five saves for Freeport. Savannah Lemieux finished with four for Greely.

Gould has 24 goals this season, including six hat tricks.

Freeport is slated to host York on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Mt. Ararat 3

The Eagles ended a four-game Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference losing skid with a win over the Rams in Topsham.

Mt. Ararat is 4-4 heading into Saturday’s road contest at Bangor (11:30 a.m.).

Reese Turcotte, Ema Hawkes and Alexa Gurney scored in the first half, with an assist each going to Kyla Greenleaf and Eliza Libby.

Abby Sirois had six saves for the shutout.

Taylor Tillinghast and Jersey Tewksbury each scored a goal to lead the Bulldogs to the Mountain Valley Conference win in Madison.

Emily Edgerly added an assist for Madison (6-4), while Susannah Curtis made five saves.

Lily Souza stopped 23 shots for Wiscasset (1-9), which hosts Hyde Saturday night at 7 p.m.

Boys soccer

AUGUSTA — Nate Taylor assisted on both Mt. Ararat goals as the Eagles earned a hard-fought 2-0 KVAC win over Cony.

Mt. Ararat is 7-1, with a big home game with Bangor slated for Saturday at 1 p.m.

Ethan Rac gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead with 28:36 remaining in the first half.

Taylor sent a pass to Travis Nadeau for Mt. Ararat’s second goal 17 minutes later.

James Singleton turned away three shots for the shutout. Cony keeper Joao Benoini had 14 saves.

Mt. Ararat held a 16 shot advantage and an 8-1 edge in corner kicks.

Monmouth 7

Brock Bates made six saves as the Mustangs recorded their seventh shutout of the season in a MVC win in Monmouth.

Gabe Martin and Nate Ashton each scored twice for Monmouth (7-2). Hayden Fletcher, Thomas Neal and Connor Davies also connected for goals in the win.

Lisbon dropped to 3-6 despite a 17-save performance from Shawn Moore.

The Greyhounds visit Mountain Valley on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

St. Dom’s 1

Gaston Fuksa scored the lone goal to lead the Saints to the win in Richmond.

Matt Gosselin made four saves for St. Dom’s (3-4-1).

Wisc/BB 0

The visiting Ramblers received two goals off of free kicks from Jared McLaughlin en route to an MVC win at Wiscasset.

Wiscasset/Boothbay fell to 3-7 and hosts Carrabec on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Noah Grube scored to complete the scoring for Winthrop.

In net, Caleb Gabriele and LJ Travis combined on 11 saves in the setback. Jake Smith turned away 10 shots for Winthrop.

Field hockey

READFIELD — Abigail Jacques scored an unassisted goal 15 seconds into the second half to lift Maranacook to a 1-0 KVAC win over Morse.

Alyssa Pratt made 18 saves for Maranacook (3-5).

Rebecca Click stopped 15 shots for Morse (5-5), which visits Leavitt on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Brunswick 1

AUGUSTA — The Rams raced out to a 4-0 lead in the first half, cruising to a KVAC win.

Kami Lambert opened the scoring for Cony (9-2), followed by a pair of Madison Veilleux goals. Anna Stolt also tallied a first-half goal.

Brunswick (2-8) scored on a last second corner when Kristen Hummer connected with Shea Sullivan for the goal.

Cony’s Faith Leathers-Pouliot rounded out the scoring with a second-half tally.

Cony outshot the Dragons, 15-4. Liberty Kraus (four saves) and Ainsley Harrower (six saves) tended the cage for Brunswick.

Skowhegan 8
Mt. Ararat 0

Defending State Class A champion Skowhegan (10-0) captured a KVAC win at Topsham, dropping the Eagles to 6-4 on the season.

Maliea Kelso and Adella Foss each scored twice to lead the Indians. Hannah McKenney, Bhreagh Kennedy, Emily Reichenbach, Lizzie York and Alexis Michonski added a goal apiece for Skowhegan.

Mackenzie McConnell made two saves for the win, while Mt. Ararat’s Emma Lapreziosa made five saves.

The Eagles visit Mt. Blue on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Bowdoin College

BRUNSWICK — The Bowdoin field hockey team collected a non-conference victory in a 6-0 shutout against visiting Wellesley on Thursday evening.

The Polar Bears climbed to 7-1, while dropping the Blue to 3-5.

Bowdoin scored just 34 seconds into the game. Emma Stevens made a spinning pass from the stroke line to Tala Glass on the left side. Glass lifted the ball towards the opposite post and over the blocker of Maggie Connelly.

The Polar Bears rattled off four goals in five minutes between the 18th minute and 23rd minute of the game. Kara Finnerty tipped a drive from Glass off a corner and Glass later drove home a feed from Elizabeth Bennewitz on another corner.

Manveer Sandhu put away a loose ball from a scrum in front of the net to extend the Bowdoin lead. Finnerty capped the scoring in the opening frame as she deflected a corner drive by Peyton Jackson.

Stevens scored the final goal seven minutes into the second half, deflecting a shot by Finnerty.

Eva Verzani picked up her second straight shutout with one stop. Connelly made nine saves in 22:34 minutes of play. Janelle Sullivan played the final 47:26 and made 10 stops.

Bowdoin held a 28-4 shot advantage and 9-3 edge in corners.

Bowdoin continues its four-game homestand with a 6 p.m. game against UMaine-Farmington on Wednesday.
