A number of incumbents were on their way to reclaim state house or senate seats, according to partial results provided by the Associated Press.
With about 50 percent of District 24 precincts counted, Democrat Den. Brownie Carson appears to be cruising to victory over Republican challenger Diana Garcia, 13,169-6,257.
With 18 out of 20 precincts counted in Senate District 13, it appears incumbent Republican Dana Dowd will hold onto that seat against Democrat challenger Laura Fortman, 9,011-8,476.
In House District 52, incumbent Democrat Rep. Jennifer DeChant has declared victory over her challenger, Republican Bil Weidner. This was the second time Weidner had challenged DeChant for the seat representing Bath. In a Facebook post, DeChant said she was “thrilled to be re-elected for my final term!!”
In House District 49, representing part of Brunswick, incumbent Democrat Matthea “Mattie” Daughtry handily defeated Republican challenger Michael Stevens, 3,846-1,589.
In House 50, Democrat Ralph Tucker easily fended off a challenge by Republican Michael Lawler, 3,611-1,163 to represent part of Brunswick.
