LEWISTON — The St. Dominic Regional High hockey team received all it could handle from Bangor in an Eastern Class A semifinal Saturday night but held on to reach the regional final with a 3-0 victory at the Colisee.

Sophomore Kyle Holtet scored a power-play goal about three minutes into the second period, and goalie Grant Carrier made it stand to propel the No. 2 Saints (14-4-2) into a showdown with top-ranked Lewiston.

“We came out and really played (good defense),” Holtet said. “It was a great game.”

Dakota Keene and senior captain Dylan Rodrigue also scored for the Saints.

Carrier, who played on the junior varsity last season, stopped all 17 shots he faced.

“I just tried to make sure I stopped all the pucks I could,” Carrier said.

Added St. Dominic Coach Steve Ouellette: “It was nerve-wracking. Overall, I think we played pretty good.”

Holtet scored the only goal the Saints would need when he redirected a shot from the point past Bangor goalie Chris Howat just 3:23 into the second period.

“It was a great shot from the point,” Holtet said, “and I was able to bat it in.”

It stayed a one-goal game until Keene scored with 5:10 left in the third period. Rodrigue capped the scoring when he beat Howat four minutes later.

Howat finished with 24 saves for No. 6 Bangor (11-9).
