The Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick says that their Concerts for a Cause series has raised $1,719 for each of its 2017-2018 charities, the Gathering Place and the Brunswick Area Teen Center.
UUCB Concerts for a Cause is a series of performances hosted by the UU Church of Brunswick to support the work of local non-profits.
During the 2018-19 fiscal year, UUCB Concerts for a Cause held seven concerts ranging from well-known singer-songwriters to a Motown/Memphis soul band to a percussion group singing world music.
Two-thirds of all the proceeds from the 2018-2019 concert series were donated to the two charities.
The Gathering Place is a Union Street daytime shelter for the materially poor or homeless. About 80-100 people use the shelter on a typical day, according to the church.
The Brunswick Area Teen Center, located in the People Plus Center on Union Street, is a downtown drop-in center for youth in grades 6-12.
