• The Sanford Farmers’ Market kicked off its eighth season from 8 a.m. to noon on April 1 at Central Park. It will also be open at the same time on Saturdays through late October, plus Wednesdays from noon to 4 p.m.

Fresh, locally-produced vegetables are among the favorite items for sale at farmers’ markets.
The Sanford Farmers’ Market accepts credit cards, WIC checks and SNAP/EBT cards.
“Come and talk directly to the farmer who grew the produce,” said McAdam.
• The Wells Farmers’ Market opened for the season on April 25, and will run 1:30-5 p.m. Wednesdays at the town hall parking lot through mid-October.
• The Saco Farmers’ Market, located at the Saco Valley Shopping Center, will open for the season on May 7. It will be open 7 a.m. to noon on Saturdays through October, and 7 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays from June through September.
The market will have close to 20 venders this year, said organizer Rachel Harris. “We’ve got a full house,” she said.
Along with the usual vegetables, meat, milk and eggs, vendors will sell seafood, baked goods (including products from a gluten-free baker on Wednesdays), maple syrup, honey, soap and ice cream.
• The Saco River Market is a year-round farmers’ market that features local vegetables, breads, pastries, cheese, seafood, crafts and much more. It is open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and is located off Saco Main Street on Saco Island behind The Run of the Mill Public House and Brewery.
• The Kennebunk Farmers’ Market will open May 7 at the Garden Street parking lot, and will run 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays through Nov. 19.
