WELLS — The Wells Public Library schedule includes the following events:
Children’s and Teen Programs:
Wednesday, May 18 at 2 p.m.
Teenagers are invited to the library and unwind by creating their own unique paper using seeds, fiber pulp, and flower petals. After writing on the paper, it can be planted to grow native Maine flowers. The library will provide the supplies. These free events are sponsored by the Friends of the Wells Public Library. Thursday, May 19 at 6 p.m.

Adult Programs:
Thursday, May 12 at 1:30 p.m.
Adult Services Librarian Kristi Bryant will teach participants to use templates and blank pages to create basic fliers using Microsoft Word. Some experience using Word is necessary. Those looking to get outside can join Adult Services Librarian Kristi Bryant and Leia Lowery from the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust to walk the “Learning Trail.” For those up for a longer walk, the walk will continue on to Jenny’s Loop to see some remarkable waterfalls. Meet at the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust headquarters or the Wells Public Library at 10 a.m. to drive there together. Registration is not necessary, but appreciated. Local author Joyce Lovely in her well-received book “Ice Cream, Gasmasks and God,” recounts growing up in Liverpool, England, amid air raids, bombs and gas masks. Now living in Wells, she enjoys gardening, hiking, reading and, writing. Copies of the book will be available for sale, which Lovely will sign after the event. Those interested in inventing, creating and new technology should not miss this program. Jared Leadbetter from the Maine State Library will demonstrate a 3-D printer in action. Master Gardener Jolene Staruch will walk through the steps to make a personal spring basket. Learn how to use an ordinary basket as a planter and fill it with either strawberry plants or spring flowers. The program will be held outside. (In the case of inclement weather, the program will be held indoors.) All materials will be provided and the program is offered free of charge, thanks to the support of the Friends of the Wells Public Library. Registration is required as space is limited. Ramblin Richard Kruppa is a retired professor who studied Gospel and American Folk Music. An active musician and member of the New England Foundation for the Arts, he plays guitar, 5-string banjo and baritone ukulele. Join Permaculture Designers Julie McLeod of The Resilience Hub and Mary Gilbertson of Old Field Farm to hear how permablitzes can help build community and create local, resilient food systems. Anyone interested in learning how to install ecologically designed garden beds, rain barrels or hoop houses, or if they have landscape skills they would like to share, may join the group to learn more.
