
He was born in Portland on Dec. 13, 1923, a son of Rolliston and Alice (Sheehan) Woodbury. He enlisted in the United States Navy his junior year at Biddeford High School, serving both theaters in the Atlantic and Pacific for five years on destroyers as a Machinist Male 1st class. He received his honorable discharge in 1945.
On Oct. 27, 1945, he married his wife, Stella Trougakos.
Earlier, he was employed by Saco Lowell and later retired from Raytheon in Andover, Massachusetts, after 27 years of service.
Ben was an avid walker, participating in Mary’s Walk until 2014, and snow skied until the age of 82.
He was a member of the American Legion and parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church.
Most recently, Ben participated for Honor Flight Maine, joining his comrades from World War II and the Korean conflict.
Ben was preceded in death by his brother David and sisters Jackie and Patricia.
He is survived by: his wife of 71 years, Stella Woodbury; his sister, Joyce Semegan; sister in-laws Alyce Burns and Muriel Woodbury; wonderful nieces Beverly, Alecia and Hope; wonderful nephews John, Randy, Kenneth and David; great-nieces Tamara, Mary Bess and Grace; great-nephews Scott, Benjamin and Henry; and many cousins.
Uncle Boo was loved by many, and will be sadly missed by all.
