PORTLAND – Listeners to Q97.9’s morning show on Thursday heard the radio hosts interview a group of A-list celebrities, including Tracy Morgan, Christopher Walken and Adam Sandler.

Fans flocked to The Q Morning Show’s Facebook page to comment on the celebrity guests, saying things such as “I’m busting a gut!” and “too funny!”

A Portland Press Herald editor even sent a reporter to investigate the movie these celebrities said they would be filming in town on Saturday.

Trouble is, none of the actors was in the radio station’s One City Center studio with hosts Meredith Manning, Jeff Parsons and Lori Voornas. Instead, the voices were all the work of professional funnyman Craig Gass.

Gass, who lives in Los Angeles, is in town to perform Saturday at The Gold Room, 512 Warren Ave. His credits include a role as Miranda’s boyfriend on “Sex and the City,” a part on “King of Queens,” regular appearances on “The Howard Stern Show” and most recently a regular gig doing celebrity impersonations on “Family Guy” and “American Dad.”

“My mom, dad and sister are all completely deaf,” Gass said following the radio show. “I couldn’t learn how to talk from my family, so I had to mimic TV.”

Gass grew up in the Bronx, N.Y., and broke into show biz in 2001 when he was tapped to appear on “The Howard Stern Show.”

His comedy show at The Gold Room takes place at 8 p.m., and tickets cost $20. Tickets can be purchased at brownpapertickets.com.
