WELLS — The top-ranked Wells baseball team scored in every inning on Thursday as the Warriors rolled to a 10-0 victory over No. 8 Fryeburg Academy in the Class B South quarterfinals.
Tyler Carpenter tossed a two-hitter for the Warriors, who got a solo home run and an RBI single from Mike Wrigley. Tyler Bridge and Matt Tufts each had two RBI.
Liam Bell scored four times and stole five bases to help the Warriors advance to the regional semifinals. Wells will host No. 5 Mountain Valley at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
SOFTBALL
Class A South Quarterfinals
No. 2 Noble 3, No. 7 Windham 1
Jordan Boucher had two hits and two RBI to lead the Knights past Windham on Thursday.
Noble ace Raegan Kelly struck out five, while allowing one run on just two hits.
The Knights, who rallied from a 1-0 deficit on Thursday, will host No. 3 Thornton Academy on Saturday in the regional semifinals.
Class B South Quarterfinals
No. 1 Wells 9, No. 9 Cape Elizabeth 8 (8 innings)
The Warriors gave up a seven-run lead as Cape Elizabeth forced extra innings, but No. 1 Wells picked up the win in the eighth on a sacrifice fly from Abby Hanson.
Hanson also had two hits and four RBI to help the Warriors advance to the regional semifinals. Wells will host No. 4 Morse at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Karissa Kenyon had three hits and two RBI for Wells, which led 8-1 through four innings.
BOYS LACROSSE
Class C Quarterfinals
No. 2 Fryeburg Academy 9, No. 7 Wells 6
Evan Carraciolo scored three times to lead the second-seeded Raiders to the win.
Fryeburg would also get two goals and three assists from Gunnar Gurnis.
