NORTH BERWICK — Marie R. Thibodeau, 78, of High Street, passed away peacefully, Oct. 18, 2018 in York Hospital with her family by her side.

She was born Sept. 4, 1940 in Woburn, Massachusetts, the daughter of Lucien and Emily (Barroso) Lada and graduated Woburn High School.  Marie earned her teaching degree  at Wellesley College in Massachusetts before beginning her teaching career at schools in Portland, Maine and Bozrah, Connecticut.

Marie is remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and being happy go lucky, even though she had a streak of Italian stubbornness which made her 4 foot 10 inch frame seem larger than life.  To make someone smile was her daily goal.  Enjoying nature and all its beauty, she especially loved her birds and taking in an afternoon ride to the ocean.  Marie was very crafty and sold her handmade goods at many local fairs, including her knitted towels.  She was happy to share her crotched hats and mittens to everyone as well. First and foremost, Marie loved her family with all her heart.

Marie is survived by her husband of 33 years, Louis (Butch) Thibodeau of North Berwick, Maine; four daughters, Patricia Sargent and husband Don of Lyman, Maine; Kathleen McInerney and husband Thomas of Norwich, Connecticut; Kimberly Thibodeau of Waterboro, Maine; and Rebecca Simpson of Sanford, Maine; her son, Scott Thibodeau and his wife Annette of Lebanon, Maine; 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and an eighth expected in December.

A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market St., North Berwick, ME.

Friends who wish may contribute to the Animal Welfare Society, 46 Holland Road, Kennebunk, ME 04043.
