BIDDEFORD — Leo W. Mercier, 84, of Biddeford, passed away Friday evening on Jan. 17, 2014, at his residence.
He was born in Biddeford on Oct. 5, 1929, a son of Isadore and Rose Anna (Martineau) Mercier.
He was educated at St. Louis High School in Biddeford.
Leo was proprietor of Lee’s Studio and Formal Wear in Biddeford for 50 years.
He was an avid cook. His family and friends were his life. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Mercier was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Biddeford.
He is survived by: his wife of 64 years, Violette (Forcier) Mercier of Biddeford; one daughter, Claire Boucher and her husband Roland of Biddeford; two sons, Raymond Mercier of Wells and Donald Mercier of Biddeford; two sisters, Jeannette Ewing of Houlton and Rita Laflamme and her husband Raymond of Saco; one brother, Alfred Mercier and his wife Lorraine of Portland; five grandchildren, Rick, Bob, Brianna, Derek and Destiny; three great-grandchildren, Amber, Delia and Logan; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014 at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James St., Saco. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at St. Joseph’s Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Biddeford. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
