As a non-religious person, an agnostic in truth, I’m finding it difficult to comprehend how 60 million people, the majority of whom call themselves Christians, can justify their voting for a man for president who, as I can see through his deeds and words, has lived a life nearly opposite of what Jesus is said to have told people how to live —a billionaire who has spent his time pursuing more and more wealth, who has publicly ridiculed a disabled man, who bullies and name calls anyone whom he disagrees with, who has denigrated women throughout his life, who advocates killing the families of suspected terrorists and whose racism is apparent to all.
With the Christmas holiday behind us, we are reminded of the life of the man called Jesus, it doesn’t make sense to me.
I’m not suggesting there should be a link between religion and government, I’ve always appreciated that this nation was founded on the principle of a separation of church and state. My concern involves a question of common human decency.
