We are soliciting the assistance of Biddeford voters to prevent a cell tower from being built near a residential area and three schools. Sadly, the planning board recommended approval, and the city council approved a contract zone for this tower, which is an exception to the zoning regulations.
There is a large body of evidence that cell tower radiation is very bad for human health. My wife presented a foot-thick pile of research to the planning board and city council, but it was ignored. Calculations indicate that the children in these three schools on Hill Street will be 75 times more prone to cancer because the schools are just a half a mile from this proposed tower.
We need more than 2,000 signatures of Biddeford voters to get this on the ballot. The wording is: “Should the citizens of Biddeford overturn the decision of the city council to authorize a contract zone for the erection of a cell tower?”
We have a DVD that explains in detail the dangers of cellphone radiation, which we would be happy to provide on loan to interested parties. Anyone who would like to help collect signatures, just give us a call at 283-1246. We have the petitions ready.
