SPRINGVALE — Viola Moreau, 87, of Springvale, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014 at the Greenwood Center in Sanford.
She was born in Sanford on March 6, 1927, a daughter of the late Arthur and Yvonne (Letourneau) Fontaine.
A lifelong communicant of Notre Dame Parish in Springvale, she was active in organizing and working the parish fairs. She also volunteered her time with the mercy meals following funerals.
In earlier years, she had been employed at the former Goodall-Sanford textile mills.
She was preceded in death by: her husband of 54 1/2 years, Philippe L. Moreau; and one grandson, Trevor Moreau.
She is survived by: her sons, Dennis J. Moreau and his wife Connie of Fitchburg, Massachusetts and Marcel Moreau and his wife Kathy of Florida and Pennsylvania; three sisters, Arlene Fortier of Springvale, Rachel Doiron of Sanford and Constance Smith of Seattle, Washington; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Church in Springvale. Burial will be at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.
