SACO — Lawrence Harland Curit, 65, of Saco, passed away Monday, Oct. 6, 2014 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
He was born in Sanford on May 8, 1949, a son of Eloise Annie Curit.
Larry was employed as a truck driver for more than 45 years, most recently at Dayton Sand and Gravel.
His hobbies included oval track racing and following NASCAR. He also enjoyed camping and four wheeling. Larry took great pride and satisfaction in his family. Most of all, he loved to spend time with them, especially his grandchildren. He was known as a free spirit, who enjoyed doing his own thing and always had a story to tell.
He was preceded in death by: his first wife of 32 years, Gloria Curit, in 2002; his granddaughter, Amanda Moody, in 1987; and his daughter-in-law, Tracy Curit in 2003.
He is survived by: his mother, Eloise Pierce of Sanford; his wife, Kathleen Leary Curit of Saco; four children, Kelly Moody and her husband Paul and Norman Curit and his partner Lisa, all of Limington, Mike Curit and his wife Tina and Jesse Lloyd Young and his wife Jennifer, all of Saco; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers; three sisters; a special aunt, Annette Curit; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Hospice of Southern Maine for all their care and support.
Visiting hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014 at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James St., Saco. Everyone is welcome to the Elks Lodge in Saco following the visitation.
