SACO — Lawrence “Larry” E. Sicard, 70, of Saco, passed away peacefully on Oct. 18, 2014 at West Side House Hospice in Worcester, Massachusetts, after a long battle with dementia.
Larry was born in Saco on June 23, 1944, to parents Edmond and Lois Gabrielle (Bolduc) Sicard.
He attended Saco schools, playing football and graduating from Thornton Academy in 1962.
He spent 21 proud years in the Army, including a tour in Vietnam, retiring in 1983 as a staff sergeant. After retirement from the military, he spent a number of years at the U.S. Postal Service.
Larry took great pride and satisfaction in his family, always there to protect and care for them. He was an avid reader and watcher of news and was very civic minded, serving on the Saco Planning Board. He also thoroughly enjoyed dancing to Elvis songs.
He is survived by: his by two brothers, Roger Sicard and Allen Sicard and his wife Mary Kiely Sicard, all of Saco; sons, David Sicard and wife Jennifer Smith Sicard and their daughter Kelsey of Manchester, New Hampshire, and Steven Sicard of Saco; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to recognize and thank Velma Irish, who compassionately cared for Larry for several years.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford. Arrangements are by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.
