WATERBORO — Barbara Mary Belanger, 72, of Waterboro, passed away on Dec. 21, 2014 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
She was born on Sept. 8, 1942 in Sanford, a daughter of the late Harold and Edna (Cote) Bennett.
After graduating from Sanford High School, Barbara went on to attend cosmetology school and became a hairdresser.
For many years, she owned and operated “Country Cut and Curl” in Shapleigh.
She enjoyed knitting, riding with her husband on their Harley-Davidson, listening to piano music, reading, dancing with her husband, and karaoke; however, Barbara will always be remembered as a very outgoing and social person, who loved her dear friends and family.
She was preceded in death by: several siblings; a granddaughter, Ashley Mae Belanger; and a grandniece, Lacy Richard, who passed away in 2012.
Barbara is survived by: her husband, Raymond Belanger; children, Brian Belanger and his girlfriend Christine Pfeiffer of Waterboro, Kim Beaulieu, Kevin Belanger and his wife Jill and Eric Belanger and his wife Julie, all of Jacksonville, Florida; brother, Raymond Bennett of Lisbon; sisters, Connie Moad of Lisbon and Joan Henkenliable of St. Marys, Georgia; grandchildren, Corey, Natasha, Michael, Kayla, Collin, Destiny and Lorelei; and great-grandchild, Marlee.
Visiting hours will be on Friday, Dec. 26 from 6-8 p.m. at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Route 22) in Buxton. A Roman Catholic funeral service will be held at the funeral chapel on Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the spring at South Buxton Cemetery.
