WATERBORO — A motorist who swerved in the roadway on Friday in Waterboro to avoid a squirrel went off the road, striking and breaking a utility pole.

The driver, Jeffrey Kazukiewicz, 45, of Waterboro was operating a 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander on Middle Road in Waterboro when the mishap occurred around 11 a.m. Friday, said York County Sheriff William L. King Jr. in a news release.

King said that Kazukiewicz was not injured during the mishap.

The road was expected to be closed for some time on Friday afternoon as Central Maine Power crews replaced the utility pole.

No homes lost power as a result of the accident.

No further information was available on Friday afternoon.
