The Kennebunk Parks and Recreation Department has invited community members to hop over to one of two locations tomorrow morning for the city’s annual free “Egg Hunt.”
Children up to 4 years old can find eggs filled with treats at the Town Hall Auditorium. Five to 12 year olds will hunt at Hope Woods.
“A lot of people and their families collect Easter eggs,” said Kennebunk Parks and Recreation director Tasha Pinkham. “So we decided to make it a community free event.”
The Egg Hunt is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., and would-be hunters are recommended to arrive 15 minutes early.
Most eggs will be filled with candy but some eggs will have a golden ticket. If a participant finds one of these tickets, they must find a Kennebunk Parks and Recreation staff member to claim their non-chocolate prize.
“We want them to have treats but we’re trying to balance it with physical activity,” said Pinkham. “We have golden tickets in the eggs, and (the kids) can get basketballs, baseballs and fishing equipment.”
Each hunter can collect a maximum of eight eggs so all participants can get in on the fun. Pinkham said they expect “hundreds of kids” to come.
No registration is required, but parental supervision is mandatory. The hunt will also carry on no matter weather conditions.
The Kennebunk Parks and Recreation Department partnered with the Kennebunk Land Trust to offer the egg hunt at Hope Woods.
