SOMERVILLE, Mass. — Jacqueline (Jackie) F. Marks O’Connell, 89, passed away on March 7, 2015.

Born on April 18, 1925, in South Boston, Massachusetts, she was raised in Somerville, Massachusetts.

Jackie had several occupations during her life. She worked as a baker’s assistant, photographic enhancement technician and data entry supervisor. Her love of children drew her to long-term baby-sitting during the latter part of her working career.

Jackie lived in the Boston area with her husband until his death. She moved to Miami, for a few years before returning north to Brookfield, Connecticut, for 25 years. Her last home was in The Villages, Florida, until moving to Hawthorne Village Nursing Facility.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, John D. Marks and Gertrude Hogan Marks; and by her husband, J. Reginald O’Connell, to whom she was married on October 4, 1947.

She is survived by; her son, Douglas (Debby) of The Villages, Florida; grandsons, Kirk (Lisa) of Draper, Utah, Scott (Mary Ellen) of Riverside, Rhode Island, granddaughter, Teresa (Simon) Baker of South Jordan, Utah; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Kaitlyn O’Connell, Dylan and Emma O’Connell, and Finn Baker; cousins, Richard D. Forrest of Palm City, Florida, and Jean M. MacDonald of Halifax, Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be performed at St. Vincent de Paul Church at 10:30 a.m. on March 17. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Beyer’s Funeral Home in Lady Lake. In lieu of flowers, a donation to your favorite charity would be deeply appreciated.
