SPRINGVALE — The Portland Piano Trio will perform once again at the Sanford-Springvale Historical Society in Springvale.
Their next appearance will take place Saturday, May 4. The ensemble has made a name for itself since its formation three years ago and was recently awarded a coveted residency at the highly regarded Avalogh Music Institute in New Hampshire.
Allan Kozinn, a former music critic and culture writer for the New York Times now resident in Portland, has praised the trios performances for their technique and imagination.
Piano Trios by Beethoven and Brahms will be performed.
Pianist Anastasia Antonacos has performed in Springvale several times over the past ten years. She has performed in Paris, Venice, The Netherlands, Greece, Russia, Belgium, Bulgaria and Spain as well as in many parts of the United States.
Violinist Tracey Jasas-Hardel, studied at the Hochschule der Musik in Berlin and while there toured throughout Europe as a recitalist and orchestra member.
Cellist Wayne Smith, a product of the Eastman School of Music, gave his recital debut at the Kennedy Center and has appeared as soloist and chamber musician in the United States, Italy, Germany, Romania, Hungary, Poland and China. He is the principal cellist of the Manhattan Symphony.
Doors open for the concert at 6:45 with the show starting at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 4 at The Historical Museum, 505 Main St., Springvale.
Admission is $15 for ages 18 and older and children are admitted at no charge.
