OLD ORCHARD BEACH — David Perkins, 63, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away Monday, March 9, 2015 at Maine Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

He was born March 19, 1951 in St. John, New Brunswick, a son of Charles and Marion (Standish) Perkins.

Coming to Maine as a child, he grew up in the Portland and Old Orchard Beach area and was a graduate of Biddeford High School.

David was the owner-operator of A-1 Towing and Recovery, and Priced Right Auto Sales on Route 1 in Saco. He was a long-time member of the Old Orchard Beach Lions Club and was a founding member of the Towing and Recovery Association of Maine. Of all his accomplishments, he was most proud of having raised his three children as a single father.

He is preceded in death by: his parents; and a brother, Charles Perkins of Kennebunk.

He is survived by: his three loving children, Marion Perkins and her husband Brian Pelletier, Wanda Strickland and her husband Tim Strickland, and Chris Perkins and his wife Bonnie Simoneau, all of Old Orchard Beach; his loyal and loving partner, Brenda Byrd of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Old Orchard Beach; and nine grandchildren, Kayla and Destiny Perkins, Alexis and Derek Strickland, Eamon and Alex Pelletier, Dale Lord and Beth Pelletier, and Giovanni Whiteman.

Visiting hours will be from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Scarborough Memorial Cemetery in the spring.
