The recent Biddeford Student Art Show held at the high school, from March 18-20, was a visual delight for those who attended. After a winter such as what we have had and looking at an all white canvas outside, the show was a feast of color and interpretation.
From the conical forms of the clay pieces, mixed materials for collages, to the beehive exhibit we were reminded that art is not just a bunch of pretty pictures. Decision making, creative process, teamwork, and out of the box thinking were truly on display. These traits by the way are the same attitudes and skills that are going to be needed as these students move on.
So I ask that you keep this in mind when budget talks come up regarding the value of arts in education.
