SACO — Henrie E.G. “Hank” Lachance, 82, of Saco, died Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at St. Andre’s Health Care Facility in Biddeford following a brief illness.

He was born July 14, 1932 in St. Agatha, Maine, a son of Patrick and Alice (Roy) Lachance. He came here as a child, was educated in local schools and attended St. Louis High School.

Hank served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was employed at United Auto Parts from 1959 until 1963 then at Delorge Bakery until 1981, and at West Point Stevens until he retired in 1994. In his retirement he worked at the Biddeford Ice Arena and was also a driver for Partners in Caregiving.

On May 27, 1996 he married Janice Roberts in Saco.

Hank had been active in the local textile union. He enjoyed bowling and had been a member of several leagues. He also enjoyed football and his favorite baseball team was the St. Louis Cardinals.

Hank was preceded in death by: a sister, Marie Gagnon; and by five brothers, Paul, Roger, Louis, Robert, and Patrick Lachance.

He is survived by: his wife, Janice Lachance of Saco; three sons, David Lachance and his wife Donna of Biddeford, Daniel Lachance and his wife Patricia of Biddeford, and Douglas Lachance and his spouse Micah Salb of Washington, D.C.; one daughter, Diane Lachance and her partner Sheila Myshrall of Alfred; 2 stepsons, Shawn Picard and his wife Lynda of Saco, and Troy Picard and his partner Shelly Curtis of Lyman; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, due in June.

Visiting hours will be 4-8 p.m. on Friday, May 8 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 at the funeral home.
