SCARBOROUGH — Scarborough police say a suspect threatened to shoot a clerk at the Shaw’s Supermarket on Payne Road tonight unless the clerk handed over cash.

The suspect, described as a white male in his early 30s, fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. No weapon was displayed during the robbery.

The man was wearing a tan Carhartt style coverall, dark blue knit watch cap, and a light blue scarf wrapped around his face. He is said to be between 5’6 and 5’10 inches tall.

The robbery took place around 6:40 p.m. Anyone with information concerning the suspect should contact the Scarborough Police Department at 883-6361.
