BIDDEFORD — Norman R. Roy, 83, of Dunedin, Florida, passed away peacefully June 11, 2015.

Born in Eagle Lake to the late Joseph and Elouise Roy, he was one of 16 children.

He graduated from St. Louis High School in Biddeford in 1950 and was a supervisor for the State of Connecticut until he retired from there in 1989.

He moved to Florida and enjoyed an active retirement, traveling and continuing his lifelong love of learning history.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War. He was a member of the Elks, American Legion and the Honor Guard for the American Legion.

Norman is survived by: his close friend and companion, Vera Rowell of Rocky Hill, Connecticut, and her many nieces and nephews. He leaves behind: one sister, Jeanette Roy of Millville, New Jersey; his four children, Annette Maus and her husband Warren of Tolland, Connecticut, Ronald Roy and his wife Diane of Belchertown, Massachusetts, Robert Roy and his wife Angela of Manchester, Connecticut, and Denise Hyde and her husband Richard of Tolland, Connecticut; eight grandchildren, Robert Roy and his wife Catherine, Nicholas Roy and his wife Jennifer, Stephanie Roy-Shen and her husband Austin Shen, Meghan Roy and her significant other Jose Espinosa, Jordan Roy, Jared Hyde, Lyla Maus, and Kahlia Hyde; and six great-grandchildren, Benjamin Roy, Taylor Roy, Brianna Roy-Espinosa, Landon Roy, Alivia Roy, and Liam Roy. He also remained close with and is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A private burial with military honors will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
