BIDDEFORD — Paul G. Lowell, 85, of Biddeford, passed away early Tuesday morning on Sept. 1, 2015, at St. Andre’s Health Care in Biddeford.
He was born in Biddeford on April 16, 1930, a son of Carl and Camilla (Goldthwaithe) Lowell. He was a graduate of Biddeford High School and of Maine Maritime Academy in Castine.
Paul was a Merchant Marine for 27 years, retiring as second mate officer in 1983. He traveled to Europe, Japan, Vietnam, China, India and Egypt.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy (Thompson) Lowell, in 1991.
He is survived by: his sister, Anne L. Small of Biddeford Pool; his two nephews, Tom and David Small; and longtime friend, Flo Ficket.
Private family services are being held. Burial will be at sea.
