PORTLAND — A Portland woman accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend in November will undergo psychiatric evaluation.
Lisa McDonald, 48, is charged with manslaughter in the death of 47-year-old Carlos Ramos. Ramos was stabbed in his Forest Avenue apartment on Nov. 28. An autopsy indicated that he died from a single stab wound to the chest.
At the time, neighbors said the couple’s relationship was marred by drinking and violence.
McDonald, who was arrested last month, was weepy as she entered the courtroom this morning for the proceeding before Superior Court Justice Roland Cole.
The prosecution and defense agreed that McDonald will be sent to state-run Riverview Psychiatric Center in Augusta for as long as 60 days for evaluation.
Cole said she will be transported there as soon as a bed becomes available.
