A student-led initiative at Windham High School is seeking volunteers from Windham, Raymond and Gorham for a day of community service scheduled for Saturday, May 14.
The service day is dedicated to Shane Donnelly, who died last year during his sophomore year at Windham High School.
Sponsored by Young Life Sebago, a local chapter of the global Christian-based outreach group, the community service day is open to anyone who wishes to participate. Young Life Sebago is active in Windham and Gorham high schools, providing mentoring and group activities to young people.
The community service projects will include painting, cleaning, mulching and building at Windham High School. Depending on the number of volunteers, additional projects may be introduced in the surrounding community.
Genevieve Delano, a sophomore at Windham High School and an active member of Young Life Sebago, said community service is “a powerful way to connect with others and find significance and joy in our own lives.”
Windham High School will benefit from the volunteer efforts during Young Life’s PowerServe day, scheduled for May 14.
