Last Friday, veterans and community members paid homage to American soldiers past and present at the Windham Veteran’s Center in honor of Veterans Day. Local legislators Bill Diamond, Mark Bryant and Gary Plummer expressed their gratitude for soldiers’ ongoing service in defense of the nation and dedicated a Veterans Memorial Park at the Veterans Center, home to American Legion Post 148 and Windham Veterans of Foreign Wars. Guest speaker General Bubar of the Maine Air National Guard talked of veterans’ sacrifices, stating that “freedom isn’t free,” and special honors were bestowed on World War II veterans Harry Lang and George Carroll.
